Joan Soole (nee Davis) recalls her days in the Keep Fit Display Team Back

From 1961 to about 1965 I was a member of the Butlin Young Ladies Keep fit Display Team. This was run by Captain Bond, all the girls called him "cappie".

We used to meet at a venue near Tottenham Court Road after work for training and one of our first engagements was at the reunion at the Royal Albert Hall. In 1961 I am almost sure that the Duke of Edinburgh was there and all the girls had to wear Red Blazers, white pleated skirts and white socks and tennis shoes.

I also remember the band of the Royal Marines playing there, I met a drummer from there who was one of my first boyfriends.

Two of my sisters were Butlins Young Ladies as well.
