I have some excellent memories of Skegness, I used to love the skating rink, riding around the camp on puffing billy or the monorail, which I admit used to scare me when I was very small, and I used to adore the fun fair.
I remember my dad taking me on the wild mouse roller coaster after he`d had a few pints of beer in the princes bar, and him being has sick has a dog for the rest of the day.
Everyday there was always something different to do or try, and I remember my mum and dad having to drag me kicking and screaming on to the bartons coach, waiting to take me back to leicester when the holiday was over, those were the days.
I took my son to Skegness Butlins in 2005 and when we first arrived and I looked around I thought where's the skating rink, the boating lake and everything I used to love when I were a kid, they were all gone and I felt quite sad.
But then I noticed just how much fun Thomas was having, and it made me realize kids of today dont enjoy the same things as we did in the 60`s and 70`s, and he enjoyed his holiday just has much has I did back then, and has asked to go back there every year since. He said its the best holiday he`s ever had, so well done Butlins for giving todays kids memories they will cherish forever just like I do mine.
