Thanks to Sarah Webb for supplying the photo, which was taken during the Easter Bank Holiday weekend in 1936, when Butlins Skegness had just opened it's gates. Sarah's mother, Joyce Stevens then aged 17, is the young lady in the hat, second from the right. Sarah's mother says they had gone to Skegness that weekend but couldn't get accommodation, so they were starting to drive home when they spotted the camp which had literally just opened that day! So they drove into the camp, asked and found that there were vacant chalets available. They had to book for several days but decided that it would be fun to stay a bit longer, which it was!
