Minehead Skyline Construction Work 2007 Back

Between 2000 & 2005, Butlins hosted Arena Concerts in a specially constructed arena on one of the car parks. However, in 2006, days before Westlife were due to perform, the arena was destroyed due to severe wind conditions. The concerts went ahead in 2006 as two smaller shows in Centre Stage with guests being compensated for the inconvenience. However, for 2007, Butlins had to consider alternative ways to host the concerts and they decided to make use of the Skyline Pavilion. The Skyline Cafe & stage were removed, creating a large, level area upon which a large arena stage and seating could be erected for the concerts but on which mobile food stalls, tables & chairs, decorative features & a new Skyline stage could sit for the rest of the year. These photos show the demolition of the old Skyline Stage and the construction of the new one.
