Miss Lovely Legs of Great Britain Back

Information kindly submitted by Ron Stanway - General Manager, Entertainment & Promotions for the Butlin Group 1974 to 1990 and Competition Producer 1968 to 1990

During the 80's Butlin's were asked by the Pretty Polly Hosiery Company to feature this competition at all the main holiday centres (not hotels) with the usual semi-finals and Final later in the year.

The competition attracted large entries and the regular ladies from the Holiday Princess and Miss She also took part.  The splendid prizes, given by Pretty Polly and others obtained through their suppliers, made the Final a most exciting event.  London theatres were used to stage the Final and the 'show' was choreographed so that the competitors could take part in rehearsed dance routines along with a number of male dancers.  The winner was assured of much publicity with the Pretty Polly Company.

After several years Pretty Polly decided to discontinue the competition but Butlin's had now found this to be a valuable part of the entertainment programme.  Unfortunately, the title, especially the pre-fix of "Great Britain", belonged to Pretty Polly so the title was thereafter was simply called Miss Lovely Legs.

The competition was eventually scrapped by Butlin's after the 1989 Final.

A list of the Title winners follows.
