I just read with interest the memories of Nigel Lockley (see here) and the murder of the security guard who went to evict unwanted guests. I was staying at the camp that week and I remember that happening and the police frogmen were in the boating lake looking for the murder weapon.
I was there another time when a member of staff was murdered as well, I think that was a security guard as well. When you think of today and then back to the 70's you would not believe of murders happening on a holiday camp but they did. It even made page six of the Sun newspaper.
Thanks to Nigel Lockley for those memories. No, the chalets were not upgraded very often and my mum always cleaned the oven in our self catering accommodation before she used it.
