So one of our few remaining good holiday camps, Mill Rythe was redeveloped early due to covid.
Redeveloped meaning totally demolished and replaced by caravans with hot tubs and an expensive pay as you go restaurant. With an outdoor cinema, showing a film a week in the cold and rain.
This was such a great holiday park. Ex Butlins. A fair price. Always nearly fully booked and coach companies falling over themselves to get in. Half board included. Amazing food. London quality shows (the best I have seen at any holiday camp anywhere). Great accommodation (huge variety) and the chalet fronts and windows cleaned on a daily basis. Reasonable prices. Free tea coffee and biscuits on arrival while awaiting your chalet. Free Bucks Fizz and a grand piano performance while waiting for your evening meal on a Thursday. Free strawberries and cream during the day over summer, twice a week. Loads of regulars. A massive social media following (now tumbleweeds).
Now all gone. If they wanted grass and caravans, with bloody hot tubs full of scabs, why not leave mill Rythe alone and develop a field instead? Shame.
